This design was derived from four words to be our inspiration and focal point. The four words that inspired this project were yellow, old, waist, and layers. The design encompasses a flower with layers of petals created using old book pages covered with a thin layer of yellow paint. The silhouette of the dress references vintage costume design, specifically wide skirts from the 1950s and ornately decorated bodices from the 1920s. The corset closure in the back of the dress was created using cardboard, paper, and metallic gold lace ribbon. The bodice was created from muslin and decorated with an assortment of clear river stones layered over split peas, zippers, beans, pasta, and metallic beads.
